bad band/buttons - otherwise perfect2
As an athlete, I loved this watch when I bought it. I still would today -- if only the band would last. As a runner, this watch always feels light and comfortable on your wrist -- even when soaked in sweat or water! I also love the low profile that never gets caught on long sleeve shirts.

After 9 months of normal wear though, the main middle button and another just stopped working. I received a replacement under warranty, and after 18 months of use with that watch -- the band just fell apart. First the loop that holds the strap in snapped apart. Then a couple of months later, the top of the band separated from the body -- all on it's own, as if the glue had just "failed" to hold it together. You can't just "replace" the band and I tried my best to reattach and glue but it seems impossible.

Great watch otherwise, just are you willing to spend the $$ for a watch that only lasts 9-18 months?

3 years of perfect service5
I bought this watch for my first triathlon. It (including the band) stood up to swimming in pool, lake, and ocean, copious sweat and California sunshine. Indiglo never failed. Eventually (two triathlons later) I broke the crown after my own clumsiness. The band on my $80 Casio did not last this long, and that watch never went in the chlorinated pools.
PROs
- the workout log is a fantastic function, and easy enough to navigate. I stored 4-5 workouts at a time, with splits, before transferring data to my training log.
- the band never failed me, though I did shower with the watch on after every swim, so that may have helped preserve the rubber.
- Indiglo never failed me.
- The watch was complimented at my office. I often wore it palmside, and the band looks fine.
- For clumsy guys and swimmers (me and me), the split button is far superior to FLIX. It's very easy to find and press the button.
...
My only CONs are that the face is a little small for a dude with big arms, or with aging eyes. I got over these flaws quickly.
Also, when I wore the watch palmside, then when I was at the keyboard in my office, I would activate various functions resting the split button on my desk. Complex solution: I turned the watch around.
My only request of Timex would be to put the workout log function into one of those analog combo watches, for even better office wear.
If your band breaks, reviews are correct, it cannot be fixed. I know a guy who re-made a band out of duct-tape, but that's about it. The band is makes this disposable. But like I said, mine lasted for 3 years of abuse.
For durability, form, and function, my experience is that this is a 5-star watch.

Nice watch, band fell apart3
Like other reviewers, I like the watch...until the band broke off. Apparently impossible to fix.
